About Ureadit.com
What is Ureadit.com all about?
It's about surviving in a technological sea of change, particularly for those who are embarking on the second half of their life.
Assumptions made in the first half of life don’t seem to play out so well in the second half. The Internet, World-Wide-Web, mobile phones, iPods and video games are recent developments in technology that are having a major impact on our lives. Those born before, say, 1970, remember the virtues of playing outside, whereas these days, a lot of kids prefer to remain indoors and play in virtual worlds. Meanwhile, communities within the Internet have grown to an undeniable influence in our lives, placing information and entertainment at our fingertips, and putting major newspapers out of business in the process. In many ways, technology has improved our lives, but at the same time, it has erased the significance of many aspects of our earlier lives. We cannot go backwards, but we can learn to adapt to this new life, and perhaps we can learn to use the strengths we gained in the past to forge a better future with technology.
At Ureadit.com, we publish articles, host blogs and moderate forums for one purpose: to help you get through the jungle. We are concerned with the effect that First Person Shooter (FPS) video games have on our children's lives, and at the same time, we love the fact that FPS can help us blow off steam from the office. If you have a question about technology, our authors and forum members are likely to extend a gentle hand to help you understand everything you need to know. Our authors are made up of technologically savvy people who saw life before 1970 and can relate to some of the generational problems that may occur when coping with the acceleration of technology.
We hope you enjoy this site, and please, feel free to contribute!
